Believing The Word In The Days We Live In

“No prophecy ever originated from humans, it was given by the

Holy Spirit as humans spoke under God’s direction!!

(2 Peter 1:21)

We are living in momentous days. There is trouble, chaos, confusion, violence and instability all over the world. People out there are nervous, afraid, unsure of the future and wondering what is going to happen. As believers the scripture lets us know that, “We have a sure word of prophecy!” (2 Peter 1:19). What a strength, comfort and assurance this gives us as believers. While the Bible is the most read, bestselling and most translated book in history it is more than that; it is God’s Word. The scripture tells us that it is God’s very breath – “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness!” (2 Timothy 3:16)

This means that the Bible is not just a good idea; it is God’s Word to us. The strength and comfort it brings to us is in the fact that His Word is true. Hundreds and hundreds of prophecies have come true and will come true as history continues to unfold till Jesus comes. Every one of the Bible’s prophecies have either come true exactly as God predicted or will come true in the future. For example, the Word contains more than 300 hundred prophecies about Jesus alone – all written thousands of years before He was born. The Bible prophesied about when He’d be born, where He’d be born, and how He’d be born. Those prophecies could not have been manipulated given the detail involved and the amount of time before their fulfillment.

As we approach the Easter season we also recognize that a thousand years before Jesus died, David describes Jesus’ death on the cross in one of the Psalms (Psalm 22). He didn’t use the word ‘crucifixion’ because no one knew that word then. Long before the Romans came to power or were even thinking about crucifying people, David described it. Only God would have known that!! What are the odds that I could make 300 predictions about you and every one of them would come true?? It’s so astronomical, you probably couldn’t write the number down. When you really think about it, it takes more faith to believe that the Bible’s prophecies were a coincidence than to believe that God planned them.

These thoughts bring us to the present days we’re living in. As mentioned above, all around there is trouble, chaos, confusion, violence and instability. However, for those of us who are believers we have that “sure word” from the Lord. Knowing and applying that “sure Word” to our lives gives us stability in unstable times. We know who we are; we know what we believe; we know where we’re going; we know what our future is…PTL!! So, believe the Word because all of it will come true; you can count on it!! The scripture reminds us that “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven!” (Psalm 119:89). And again, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away!” (Matthew 24:35) Wow!!! You can’t have greater assurance than that!

Mmmmm…….Think about it!!
