Get Rid Of Your Fears This Christmas
“But the angel said unto them, ‘Do not be afraid!’”
(Luke 2:10 NIV)
This past year of 2020 has been a difficult one for many people. With the recession, loss of jobs, trying to survive and provide for family, etc., many have been filled with fear. For many, fear still looms large as the New Year approaches not knowing what the future might hold.
When the angel came to the shepherds out on the hillside that night they were indeed frightened and fearful not knowing what to expect. In fact, some translations say they were ‘terrified’. But the message brought 2000 years ago is a message for us to receive today – ‘fear not’. Christmas was not just a season, but it is a time specifically chosen by God for Jesus to come to earth. Paul said, “But when the right time finally came, God sent His own son.” (Galatians 4:4). Knowing that this is God’s chosen time teaches us that Christmas is the time for us to release our fears concerning the future.
What are the things you are worried about? The economy? Your health? Your bills? Your kids? The fact is that there are lots of reasons to be afraid in today’s world. But God’s message this Christmas time is “Don’t be afraid.” (Luke 2:10) Release your anxieties; let go of your fears. It is interesting to note that there are 365 verses in the Bible that say “Fear not!” God provided us with one ‘fear not’ message for every day of the year. Do you think God might be saying…”Get the message? Don’t be afraid.
Why does He want us to get this message? Because God has great things ahead for your future in2021 and He wants us to enter into it with confidence. Jesus came and He is Lord over all things. Release your fears; trust the Lord of Glory. He came for you and He will watch over you – be not afraid! Remember the words of the writer of the old carol, ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ who wrote, ‘the hopes and fears of all the years are met in Thee tonight!’
Mmmm…Think about it!
